Film Forum is proud to present THE HEADLESS WOMAN, the third film from Lucrecia Martel (LA CIENAGA, THE HOLY GIRL), a leader of the Argentine film renaissance. Deemed “a deft and often witty portrait of psychological and ethical alienation” (Geoff Andrew, Time Out UK), the film tells a compelling tale of a poster child for the South American haute bourgeoisie. She’s blonde and bland, perfectly coiffed and made-up, often found behind the wheel of her Mercedes. María Onetto plays Verónica, a woman whose perfect life may be a dream or whose nightmare accident (was that a child her car hit? a dog? nothing?) may indicate that her entire existence is detached from reality. Critics have referenced David Lynch and Luis Buñuel as forerunners for the kind of hyper-reality THE HEADLESS WOMAN exudes.
